Project Narrative
The experience begins at the waiting area, where a pre-existing column becomes the trunk of a sculptural tree. Above it, a soft canopy unfurls across the ceiling, casting gentle shadows and evoking the stillness of sitting under foliage. Seating curls around this centrepiece, enclosed by a shallow water channel with stepping stones on three sides and a wheelchair-accessible path on the fourth- ensuring inclusivity is seamlessly integrated.
From here, a series of corridors unfold- lined with curved bamboo arcs and softened by planter niches that carry light and life through the spine of the space. Natural light is introduced wherever possible, and in deeper rooms, low-maintenance indoor plants are placed to support both visual and emotional wellbeing.
The material story deepens across treatment zones. The Ayurvedic section is wrapped in exposed brick- quiet, grounding, and evocative of traditional Indian practices. In contrast, physiotherapy and consultation rooms feature bamboo panelling, bringing in warmth and rhythm without visual weight. These two materials anchor the project, threading together heritage and clarity through a calm, continuous language.
Recoup is not designed to be just a health facility. It is a place of return- where natural rhythms are honoured, traditional practices are reinterpreted, and the act of recovery is supported by space itself.
