Project Narrative
The linear planning of the home addresses both the site's narrow width and the dense urban context surrounding it. Openings are carefully positioned to encourage natural ventilation and daylight, creating bright and airy interiors. The elongated spatial configuration enhances connectivity and flow, while also framing serene views of the minimalist courtyard, where gravel, rocks, and sparse greenery create a calm, textural backdrop rather than a lush garden.
Drawing inspiration from the client’s affinity for understated design, the architecture showcases a refined interplay of textures and light. The restrained grey-white palette allows the sculptural elements of the house—both interior and exterior—to take center stage. The traditional courtyard acts as a grounding element in the modern scheme, promoting openness while also serving as a contemplative pause in the spatial narrative.
Designed across two levels, the home caters to both private family life and professional commitments. The ground floor includes two well-appointed bedrooms, a study, a guest living area, and an open-plan kitchen that blends seamlessly with the living and dining zones. The master bedroom features a luxurious attached bath with a jacuzzi, embodying relaxation and comfort. Large windows and sliding doors throughout ensure visual continuity with the courtyard, allowing natural light to animate the interiors through the day.
On the upper floor, the layout shifts towards recreation and retreat. It houses two more bedrooms, a private home theatre, a well-equipped gym, and a strikingly styled bar. The bar area introduces a bold contrast to the home's overall muted tones, with rich green tiles, warm lighting, and a textured wave mural lending a sense of intimacy and vibrancy. This space, with its earthy flooring and scalloped counter, reflects the home’s thoughtful layering of materials and moods.
A separate clinic at the entrance ensures professional functionality while maintaining privacy for the main residence. Tucked below, a shaded porch doubles as parking, showcasing efficient land use.
