FOLDS

Perched atop a G+4 structure in Raipur, FOLDS, designed by JB Designs under the leadership of Riya Shobhwani, challenges the conventional language of workplace interiors. Spanning 1,700 sq. ft., the rooftop office replaces rigidity with softness—embracing fluidity, sculptural form, and tactile restraint to create an environment that feels more experiential than corporate. At the heart of the project lies a dramatic circular reception space that functions as both threshold and anchor. Defined by a curved metallic desk set against a striking book-matched stone backdrop, the reception establishes the spatial language of the office from the moment one enters. Above, sculptural ceiling forms mirror the geometry below, reinforcing a continuous dialogue between floor, wall, and ceiling. The planning radiates outward from this central volume, organising the master cabin, conference room, workstations, pantry, and staff areas with clarity while maintaining visual fluidity. Arched glass partitions soften transitions between spaces, allowing transparency without compromising privacy. Throughout the office, fluted surfaces, cylindrical forms, concealed lighting, and rounded edges create a cohesive design vocabulary rooted in movement and continuity. Materiality remains intentionally restrained. Warm greys, textured beiges, muted browns, natural stone, and soft upholstery establish a tactile and layered atmosphere. Hospitality-driven seating arrangements, crescent-shaped sofas, and biophilic insertions further dissolve the formal character typically associated with office environments. The master cabin introduces a quieter expression of authority through sculptural wall installations and softened furniture forms, while the conference room continues the narrative through an oval table positioned beneath a luminous circular ceiling feature. Together, these spaces balance functionality with emotional comfort. Rather than functioning solely as a workplace, FOLDS becomes an immersive spatial experience—where architecture guides movement gently, edges dissolve into softness, and design fosters calm, connection, and ease.
