Project Narrative
A designer’s office is the tangible translation of their principles, ideation, and sensitivities. Extending his creative intellect into his own studio, Manmeet Ahuja has crafted a luxurious yet productive respite in the heart of Gurgaon. This single-storeyed, standalone office spans 4,500 sqft of refined opulence that beckons one to pause, ponder, and process.
Featuring a classic palette of charcoal blacks and pearly whites—complete with checkerboard flooring and Parisian mouldings—this space feels more like a retreat than a workplace. Ahuja aimed to create a palatial yet homely atmosphere, one that invites you into a zen-like state of calm and creativity. The studio whispers quiet luxury across all its spaces: the artwork-laden reception, the French-inspired director’s office, the tranquil team workspace, and the sophisticated meeting rooms. Each zone has its own identity, yet remains harmonized with the overarching aesthetic of understated glamour.
The landscaped site envelopes the expansive studio and is fronted by a water feature that offers immediate reprieve from the surrounding urban chaos. It gently encourages a transition into the studio’s composed rhythm. Inside, the layout follows a linear path, defined by a regal hallway flanked by essential office functions.
Upon entering the grandiose lobby, inspiration meets the eye—from the patterned flooring and midnight-black furniture to the curated art pieces meticulously designed by Ahuja himself. This visual narrative continues down the hallway, guided by the classic dual-toned floor that stitches together the spaces with elegance.
The two directors’ cabins reflect their individual personalities while perfectly complementing the studio’s serene ambiance. Manmeet Ahuja’s den is defined by a deep, absorptive black palette, anchored by a black onyx desk and balanced by powder navy and white accents. In contrast, the co-founder’s cabin evokes Indo-French charm, with European trimmings set against a creamy backdrop. The furniture, crafted in rich dark walnut and adorned with gold hardware, elevates the sense of quiet sophistication.
Nestled between the two is the conference room—an airy, elegant space featuring light wood tones and white stone tabletops that encourage focused conversation. The shared workspace for the design team champions simplicity and functionality, prioritizing collaboration and dynamic energy above all else.
The studio culminates in a versatile lounge area—Ahuja’s creative canvas. Dressed in soothing olive tones, this space features a bespoke bar, curated art, and cozy seating arrangements that transform it into an urban oasis. It offers pockets for both recreation and reflection.
