Project Narrative
The house sits quietly against a backdrop of trees, blending seamlessly with its natural surroundings. Landscaping was a priority from the beginning, resulting in organically arranged paths and decks that define the spaces around the pool. The pool itself, adorned with green tiles, pays homage to nature, while a custom-made bar exudes a sense of raw luxury. Accent furniture by Ethimo, sourced through Watcon, and handcrafted clay pots from Atelier Vierkant in Belgium enhance the outdoor spaces, doubling as sculptural art pieces that enrich the setting.
The existing structure posed constraints in altering room sizes or reconfiguring bathroom layouts, leading to a design approach that focused on optimizing existing spaces. Semi-private zones were introduced to align with the homeowners’ social lifestyle, creating inviting conversation nooks and entertainment areas. The lounge and dining spaces were meticulously curated with a focus on precision and functionality, ensuring they remain both cohesive and welcoming.
Inside, the design fuses artistic expression with deeply personal elements. Every space reflects the residents’ passions, from photography to wildlife appreciation. Lime-based paint envelops the interiors in a seamless, calming hue. A standout feature is the striking 2000-kilogram eucalyptus log wood bar, crafted using the traditional Japanese Shou Sugi Ban technique. Designed by the team and executed by Solid Bench, the bar, along with custom cabinetry, serves as an iconic centerpiece, while an adjacent wall reveals chiselled and exposed bricks, adding rugged elegance.
Each bedroom carries a distinct personality. The daughter’s room is an imaginative retreat with a dreamy raspberry-pink lacquered finish. The guest room, with sculptural lighting and adaptable furnishings, caters to diverse preferences. The main bedroom offers a serene sanctuary with expansive windows framing picturesque views, while the parents’ room exudes subdued elegance with neutral tones and luxurious materials.
The residence artfully blends Italian and French furniture with Indian and Japanese influences through curated artworks and sentimental pieces. Manjunath Kamath’s seminal painting on the staircase invites engagement, while large-scale artworks in the dining area spark conversation. With furniture from Alsorg and Solid Bench, alongside Atelier Vierkant’s sculptural vases, the home is a seamless confluence of refined tastes and timeless craftsmanship.
