Project Narrative
Three grand arches define the exterior, standing like open arms that welcome light, life, and reflection. Beyond them, double-height glass panels frame views of the sky, bird songs, and the lush front landscaping, creating a dialogue between the interiors and nature. The garden itself is unmanicured yet soulful, emphasizing a philosophy of moderation and mindfulness- a celebration of nature rather than control over it.
The home’s interiors are a careful orchestration of materials and textures. Earth-toned walls meet cool grey floors and warm cane weaves, forming a tactile language of quiet luxury. Each space flows fluidly into the next, guided by cross-ventilation, natural light, and gentle circulation, respecting the constraints of the original column layout while transforming it into a holistic, open-plan experience. Every stone, wood panel, and muted surface has been chosen not to impress, but to nurture, offering moments of pause and reflection.
The bedrooms exemplify this philosophy of calm. A bold abstract mural in one room becomes a visual meditation, balanced by earthy bedding and asymmetrical mirrors that introduce playful rhythm. The master bedroom is a sanctuary of light and softness, with cream walls, gold trims, and jewel-toned accents that harmonize with the green balcony beyond. It is a space designed not just for rest but for contemplation, where every detail- from pendant lighting to textiles- encourages stillness.
Bathrooms are ritualistic in design. Vein-matched marble, backlit niches, and brushed brass fixtures transform daily routines into moments of quiet luxury. Even the powder room carries sculptural elegance, combining mood, form, and function seamlessly. The kitchen, a space of functional serenity, blends sage stone counters with ivory cabinetry and brass hardware, marrying practicality with visual calm.
Santoshyam’s design celebrates sustainability through resource sensitivity and minimal intervention, working with the existing structure rather than against it. Cross-ventilation, open layouts, and judicious use of natural light reduce dependency on artificial systems, while jaali-inspired screens and inward-looking spatial arrangements subtly reflect Indian design sensibilities.
At its core, Santoshyam is an embodiment of gratitude and togetherness- a home gifted by the family to their parents. This act of giving shaped every design decision, transforming the architects’ role from creators to custodians of meaning.
