Project Narrative
“With the idea of merging Indian tradition with contemporary design, the project is a tribute to the rich, ethnic heritage of India, infused with classical historic prints and motifs,” shares Rinki Kotak. Every element — from furniture and textiles to lighting and spatial layout — has been curated to narrate a cohesive story of legacy and lifestyle.
Upon entering, the living area instantly sets the tone. Upholstered sofas with traditional Indian fabrics, bold murals, patterned cement flooring, and vibrant carpets radiate warmth and vibrancy. Wallpapers with intricate motifs lend texture, while modern lighting fixtures and sleek décor elements maintain a refined balance.
Adjoining this area, the dining room follows the same design ethos — bold upholstery paired with contemporary furniture silhouettes adds opulence and ease. Just beyond, the balcony showcases Indian-inspired motifs and a roped chair backed by a Pinterest-worthy contemporary wall treatment, celebrating both heritage and personal expression.
The kitchen, clad in soft pastel pinks with neutral backsplash tiles and marble countertops, becomes a charming yet functional heart of the home. The palette ties in seamlessly with the rest of the house, ensuring continuity.
Each bedroom serves as a unique canvas. The parent’s bedroom exudes sophistication with teal hues, veneer finishes, and calming mood lighting. In contrast, the daughter’s room blends brass accents and arched wall panels with a bold magenta chair, reflecting youthful vibrancy rooted in traditional elegance. “Partitions reminiscent of old Indian mansions provide connectivity and privacy, while arched mirrors and canvas panels add a touch of minimal elegance,” explains Mihir Kotak.
The master bedroom is a theatrical celebration of India’s rustic past. Cane shutters, polished wood, and a fresh green TV console are layered with artisanal detailing. A vivid wall painting and motif-embellished tiles in the bathroom evoke nostalgia while reinforcing the home’s eclectic design language.
